We had a little accident…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Sam got a chance to go see his new school tonight and do it on his bike.  That’s where things went south.  You see his school is a two story building and there is a bit of a hill to go from the front entrance (upstairs) to the lower entrance (downstairs) where his class will be.  Now to get to the lower entrance, he needed to take a sharp turn and then down a hill.  That turn was a little trickier than he thought.  The result…

Total injury count: fat upper lip, fat lower lip, swollen nose, and a scrape to the forehead.  Not bad for a bike injury.

Meteor shower update…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

No pics or drama from seeing the Perseid meteor shower last night with Sam because we didn’t see the meteor shower last night. Storms blew in just about 1am and stuck around until about 4am.

How do I know we had storms at those times? Because at 1am is when Lucy started to freak out and it was about 4am when I was able to get back to sleep after checking the radar at 3am. I’m guessing there may be a quick nap in store for me this evening before I go out to capture some final pics for the Mankato calendar contest.

Tonight, or should I say tomorrow morning, is going to be a big day for Sam and I.  Sam asked at dinner tonight if he could get up and see the Perseid meteror shower tomorrow morning with me.  I said sure, but with the caveat that I would check the weather to make sure there were no clouds.  If I saw no clouds then I would wake him up too.

We then proceeded to spend 20-30 minutes planning all the things we would need to bring with.  The list, in his order of importance, is:

  • Goldfish crackers
  • A juice box
  • His lawn chair
  • Bug spray
  • My camera
  • Then me

Obviously he believes he’ll be able to go see them, with or with out me, all the while enjoying a really nice snack.  Let’s hope the weather cooperates and that I’ll have some nice shots to share tomorrow.

King of the world…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

There is a street corner that I bike past during most of my rides.  The corner has a fire hydrant and a bunch of wildflowers planted around the hydrant.  Each time I ride past this corner, I say to myself that I have to get there before the flowers start to fade.  Well I finally made it today and this was the prize winner of the bunch I took.

The bug (I don’t know kind, yet), literally came crawling over the backside of the flower and stopped to look up.  I have more pics from the street corner here [Link].

Getting a little better everyday…

Sam has started to learn to ride his bicycle and I’m learning to add a little finesse to my pictures.  Here’s a shot at trying to combine the two together.

We’re still here…

Just wanted to let everyone know we’re still here. Work and life have been hectic, so posts have been lacking. So to make up for this, here’s a picture of our adorable boys. I’m pretty sure this evens things out.

Sometimes you get a great shot…

The boys were playing just before bed and I had the camera with me to try and get a couple of candid shots.  Out of the 8 or 9 shots I took, I did manage to pull this one out.

Too bad it didn’t catch the devilish side he was showing 3 minutes earlier.

Onto the circus…

About 3 blocks from the cabin we stayed at while in Okoboji is an amusement park that we took the boys too.  Sam got to test out his skills on the trampoline.
