And this is what I found…
Posted by: | CommentsReading with a vengeance…
Posted by: | CommentsHolly got Sam a new book today, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He got the book about 3:30pm this afternoon and basically read non-stop until a little after 8pm. In those 4-1/2 hours he tore through almost 200 pages. Instead of Holly or I reading to him tonight, he sat down with his book while I got some time to read mine. We both sat on his bed and read until Holly came in to say goodnight after reading to Evan. We had to tell him to put the book down with about 20 pages to go.
Guess who’s getting up early tomorrow?
Found this while cleaning…

Amazing what a person can find when doing a little cleaning. I found an old camera while cleaning my office and took a quick peak at the CF card inside. I’ll post a couple more later this week.
New hobby…
Posted by: | CommentsSam has found a new way to entertain himself. When he gets a chance to get on Holly’s iPhone, he will set the timer to go off at some random future time. Holly has been caught more than once with her phone beeping at her no apparent reason.
Wait until he’s 16 and Holly does that to his alarm clock.
Pics from Sam’s party…
Posted by: | CommentsThe fact that we were able to keep 6 boys entertained, happy, and not lost makes our first ‘big boy’ party a success. More pics on Flickr [link].
Early birthday present for Sam…
Posted by: | CommentsWe decided this year that Sam has enough toys and that his extended family will more than likely fill the gap. Holly met the local artist that did the painting and he did a fantastic job. We couldn’t keep Sam out the room for more than 20 minutes at a time because he wanted to see how things were progressing.
It will be an awful shame when we have to repaint his walls when he gets older.
Timely talks with Sam…
Posted by: | CommentsToday’s snowstorm brought out one of the more ‘entertaining’ discussions between Sam and I. As I drove him to Sunday school, he kept complaining he couldn’t see out the front window. You know that little triangle area that never gets clean. I said as long as I can it’s ok. He said he needed to see too. I said it was really important for me to see because I was driving.
This went on for 8 straight minutes.
The tougher questions of life…
Posted by: | CommentsWhen watching Big Bang Theory with a 5y old, there’s always those awkward moments you try to gloss over. Like answering the question, ‘What did he mean when he said “doing a dance without my pants?”‘.
Yeah, that one was a toughie.
What Sam doesn’t know…

This is what happens when Sam is away at school. Some things are better left not mentioned.
Real honesty…
Posted by: | CommentsSam just declined my offer for an Oreo. His reason? He already got one from Holly after dinner.
I just hope that kind honesty sticks through his teenage years!
