Parenting dilemma…
Posted by: | CommentsKids pick up the darnedest things at daycare. For Evan, it’s currently the phrase ‘I don’t like [insert topic]‘. So when he gets grouchy he’ll say ‘I don’t like you’ – and he’ll say it with conviction.
Well tonight he kept saying it to me and I didn’t appreciate it. So I tried to correct him and he’d say it again. I finally broke down and said, ‘Evan, I don’t like it when you say I don’t like it!’.
Evan gives me a puzzled look and ran to his mother. See my dilemma?
Quote of the day…

Lesson learned…
Posted by: | CommentsYou know how parents sometimes make wild ass promises, thinking there is NO WAY their kid will keep their half of the bargain?
Yeah… I’m not doing that anymore. Why? Because it’s -5°F outside and I’m driving to the mall to get ice cream.
Who taught who a lesson here?
A little inspiration…
Posted by: | CommentsBeing a relatively new parent, I still get to be amazed and inspired by the new things our kids show each and everyday. Today Sam read a bedtime story to me. I don’t mean Sam just kind of retold a book he’s practically memorized, he read the words back to me. As he was just about to finish the book I looked at him with absolute amazement. He’s gone from barely speaking at 2y old to now being part of the advanced reading group in his class. Sam has no clue the challenges he’s already faced in his short 5 years – surgery less than 24h old, the hearing, and the speech.
Makes me wonder how often we chalk up life’s challenges to bad luck instead of the learning experience it should be?
