His Mother’s Son…
Posted by: | CommentsHow do I know for absolute certainty that Evan is his mother’s son?
He not only put away his shoes after we came inside tonight, but scolded Sam for not doing the same, and then put Sam’s shoes away too.
Let’s see if this sticks when he’s fifteen.
New talent…
Posted by: | CommentsEvan demonstrated a new talent today. And he is SO proud that he can do it too. Can you guess what it is?
He can turn on the TV by himself.
Great, one more parental control lost.
Refusing to take a nap…
Posted by: | CommentsThis is Evan refusing to take a nap after 30 min of quiet time.
Trying to curb bad habits…
Posted by: | CommentsHolly normally has Tuesday’s off, so Evan stays home with her those days. This week Sam stayed home too because of spring break from school. So while Holly was reading to the boys, she noticed Evan was fidgeting a bit. She looked down to realize he had been picking his nose because he was now staring at the proof of his success.
Holly asked, ‘Evan, do you need a kleenex?’
Evan took a look at his finger and then looked up at Holly. Then in one fluid motion wiped his finger off on Sam’s bedspread and said in the most deadpan tone possible for a 3y old, ‘Nope’.
He didn’t even bat an eye when he did it.
A late bath night…
Posted by: | CommentsSam and Evan got a late start with their bath tonight. Why? Because Sam kept telling stories to Evan while they both sat on their respective potties. They must have spent 20 minutes just giggling and laughing while they sat there waiting to go.
November in Minnesota…
Posted by: | CommentsSo it’s now early November according to the calendar. It’s almost Christmas Eve according the catalogs we get in the mail. And it’s mid-October according to the weather we had today. Low to mid 60’s with sun and almost no wind. So I started hanging Christmas lights and the boys did what the boys do best… having a good time outside.
Sam thinks a camera is only meant to capture pretty sunsets and his goofy faces. Case in point above.
Evan wants to be a daredevil when he grows up, or at least an adrenaline junky like I was.
Making sure it’s right…
Posted by: | CommentsEvan was sure he could tell us what we were doing wrong.
Singing Happy Birthday
Posted by: | CommentsOn the way to school this morning, Sam thought it would be nice to sing Happy Birthday to Evan. So Sam proceeds to sing a Happy Birthday and shouts ‘Happy Birthday Evan’ when he’s done. He really put his heart into it. Evan sat there for a few seconds, just taking it all in. He then said in the flattest tone possible, ‘Thank you guys’.
The contrast of Sam’s bravado to Evan’s monotone thank you was just too much for me. Both the boys looked at me as if saying, ‘Dad, it really wasn’t that funny’.
Happy Birthday Evan!
Posted by: | CommentsI cannot believe that just 3 years ago Evan came into our world. To celebrate this occasion I have to give credit where credit is deserved… to Holly. She continues to amaze me everyday with the patience and nurturing she give to our boys in situations that would make my head spin.
You sure you did it right…
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s that time of year again and we’re starting to make jack-o’-lanterns. In this case we got an early start to test out Sam’s skills at cleaning, my skills at cutting, and Evan’s skills at supervising. So for Evan’s the winner.
