Expanding my photography…
Posted by: | CommentsContinuing to work on expanding my photography. Still struggling with the self promotion part of getting my work noticed. Feels weird at times to stand and scream, ‘Hey look at me’.
Christmas 2010…
Posted by: | CommentsSam and I went out to get our Christmas cards ordered tonight. One of the twists we’ve recently had with our spunky 5y old is the occasional desire to be called Samuel, instead of Sam. So tonight as he ‘helped’ me get the cards ordered he asked that I put ‘Samuel’ on the card instead of Sam.
So this year’s card can be considered to be Sam’s Christmas card.
The ups & downs of our first snowfall…
Posted by: | CommentsWell winter finally arrived for us in Minnesota today and with the snow came some good news and some bad news. The goods news is the boys and the dogs had a great time playing outside this morning.
Lucy decided to finally stop running around with Tina and sat for bit, just taking in the new snowfall.
Sam and Evan decided that the backyard looked like even more fun.
But with all the fun came a few consequences… like this.
Yep, that’s literally the exploded view of the gearbox to my snow blower. The snow was the heaviest and wettest stuff I’ve seen in years. So it will be off to C&S Supply bright and early Monday to see how much, and how long, it will be to get a new gearbox.
Hope everyone else fared a little better in the first snow of the year.
November in Minnesota…
Posted by: | CommentsSo it’s now early November according to the calendar. It’s almost Christmas Eve according the catalogs we get in the mail. And it’s mid-October according to the weather we had today. Low to mid 60’s with sun and almost no wind. So I started hanging Christmas lights and the boys did what the boys do best… having a good time outside.
Sam thinks a camera is only meant to capture pretty sunsets and his goofy faces. Case in point above.
Evan wants to be a daredevil when he grows up, or at least an adrenaline junky like I was.
Why I carry my camera with me…
Posted by: | CommentsThis is why I carry my camera with me as much as possible. I got this picture Monday morning while driving into work. The only work I had to do to the picture was copy it from the camera to my laptop and save it in my photo editing software.
Singing Happy Birthday
Posted by: | CommentsOn the way to school this morning, Sam thought it would be nice to sing Happy Birthday to Evan. So Sam proceeds to sing a Happy Birthday and shouts ‘Happy Birthday Evan’ when he’s done. He really put his heart into it. Evan sat there for a few seconds, just taking it all in. He then said in the flattest tone possible, ‘Thank you guys’.
The contrast of Sam’s bravado to Evan’s monotone thank you was just too much for me. Both the boys looked at me as if saying, ‘Dad, it really wasn’t that funny’.
Happy Birthday Evan!
Posted by: | CommentsI cannot believe that just 3 years ago Evan came into our world. To celebrate this occasion I have to give credit where credit is deserved… to Holly. She continues to amaze me everyday with the patience and nurturing she give to our boys in situations that would make my head spin.
Just a couple of people out for a run…
Posted by: | CommentsProof that Mankato had a hit on their hands. Over 2000 runners participated in the inaugural Mankato Marathon on Saturday. After the main pack had finished going by on the main route by our house, I took the boys back to the house. By then the 10k runners were running literally in front of our house. The boy spent 20+ minutes cheering on the 10k runners.
Can’t wait for next year. Maybe Holly will be on the sides cheering me on?
Good luck Holly…
Posted by: | CommentsToday is the inaugural Mankato Marathon. I want to wish good luck to everyone running in the race – Cindy, Tanya, and Kristin. Especially to Holly, who we’re going to cheer for extra loud.
Pics from the race to follow.
You sure you did it right…
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s that time of year again and we’re starting to make jack-o’-lanterns. In this case we got an early start to test out Sam’s skills at cleaning, my skills at cutting, and Evan’s skills at supervising. So for Evan’s the winner.
