The next person who gives either of our sons a Transformer toy shall be banned from holiday events for the following 12 months. You’ve been warned!

Well moving day is here and… it’s raining and it doesn’t look like it will let up until about 10 minutes after we have to be at the new house for our final inpsection and start moving in. Holly and I appreciated all the prayers for a nice day, but they obviously got overridden by those praying for a little rain for the crops.

Apparently only weird things in my life happen at HyVee. The latest sight if the day happened when I was walking out of the store. A guy nearly walked into three different groups of people. The reason… He was talking on his cell phone and a Bluetooth unit AT THE SAME TIME. Apparently he was important enough to have two phone, but not smart enough to get 3 way calling to work.

I had to go to the dump as we continue the purge of items not worthy for the move to the new house. As I was emptying my truck I overheard a younger couple emptying their trailer of remodeling debris. The husband was chit chatting with his wife when he suddenly shouted, "See what people throw away today, it’s a perfectly good toilet."  So I thought it was a funny joke to his wife.

The weird part was when he ACTUALLY went over a pile of junk, pulled the toilet down and started to take a closer look. I’m pretty sure he put it into his trailer once he was done unloading. 

Sam and I went to the mall this afternoon. As we passed a few stores, Sam would always point out something in the display… look at the new shoes at Tradehome, smell the pretty flowers at Bath & Body Works, look at the pretty lady at Victoria’s Secret (ok… that was me, but you get the idea).  We then passed a Hallmark store and he said, ‘Look Daddy, it’s Mickey Mouse.’  I turned to expect to see some Disney/Pixar display for Wall-E, their new movie for the summer.

Nope. What do I see but a poster announcement for Christmas ornaments to be released on Jul 12. I know the economy has been hurting stores this year, but to even intimate Christmas 2008 in June is a little much. I guess that means we should start thinking about Sam’s 10th birthday, Evan’s first day of kindergarten and my 20th high school reunion. Uhhh… scratch the last one, that’s actually next summer.
