The maple tree in our front yard gave us quite a color show this fall.

Looking back on fall pics…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

The snow and the cold have slowed down my picture taking adventures, so I’m starting to go back and look at other pictures I’ve taken.  Some are getting discarded, while others are finally getting the editing they’ve deserved.

Quick shot from Iowa drive…

Iowa Drive Frosted Tree

A landscape shot I captured on my way back to Mankato earlier this week from Britt. All the trees were frosted and the drive to and from Iowa that day was absolutely gorgeous.

Christmas 2010…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Sam and I went out to get our Christmas cards ordered tonight.  One of the twists we’ve recently had with our spunky 5y old is the occasional desire to be called Samuel, instead of Sam.  So tonight as he ‘helped’ me get the cards ordered he asked that I put ‘Samuel’ on the card instead of Sam.

So this year’s card can be considered to be Sam’s Christmas card.

Why I carry my camera with me…

Fall River Sunrise

This is why I carry my camera with me as much as possible.  I got this picture Monday morning while driving into work.  The only work I had to do to the picture was copy it from the camera to my laptop and save it in my photo editing software.

The winning photo…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Just to put things in perspective, this was the winning photo for the 2011 Mankato Calendar photo contest and the People’s Choice Award.

Winning Photo

Hard to beat a guy in a plane taking a picture of another plane flying over Mankato in the dead of winter.  I’ll get’em next year!

Very happy results…

Tonight was the 2011 Mankato Photo Contest presentation by the Mankato City Council.  I was honored to have two of my pictures awarded tonight.  The first was a night shot of Veteran’s Memorial Bridge to be named the 2nd place photo out of over 375 entries.  This picture was blown up and already framed at the ceremony tonight.  It will now be hung within City government offices and on official literature.

2nd Place in 2011 Photo Contest

The other was being named the 2nd overall photo in the People’s Choice award for my picture of Union Depot in downtown Mankato.

2nd Place in 2011 People’s Choice Award

Both of my pictures lost to the same picture, a great aerial photo of Mankato in the winter.  Here’s to trying to get up one more spot next year!

Special thanks…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I want to send out a big thank you to family and friends who voted in Mankato’s People’s Choice Photo award. My picture of Union Depot was selected as the 2010 People’s Choice. I cannot describe the feelings I had when I found out this evening.

And a special thank you to my wife, who put up with hours upon hours of me going out to take pictures. Only to spend just as many going through the the pictures for post processing and filing. Thanks Holly!
