First day of school…
Posted by: | CommentsWhile last week was ‘technically’ the first day of school for Sam, today was Evan’s first day. So I took pictures of the two school boys this morning.
Update: I’ll post some of the pictures that didn’t turn out so well later this week.
Flawed execution…
Posted by: | CommentsAfter coming back from Okoboji, the boys thought it would be fun to sleep in the same bed again. We agreed that if the boys would fall asleep quickly, then they could sleep in the same bed together. This is the result.
They are asleep, but does this really qualify as a successful night?
Hi ho, hi ho…
Posted by: | CommentsSam and Evan on their way to explore a “cave” near Lake Okoboji. They got to wear miner caps to help them collect rocks and fossils. As cheesy as the setup was, the kids had an absolute blast.
Not being bored…
Posted by: | CommentsI’m always amazed how the boys can sometimes come up from the basement or from their room and say, ‘I’m bored’. Well I now have proof that kids can find entertainment anywhere. We were getting ready our attempt to break the Diet Coke/Mentos world record (which we didn’t) and Sam was starting to get bored. No less than 2 minutes after we started to wait, he found something to do. Proof that kids can find something to do just about anywhere.
Now the trick will be convincing them.

Our attempt at a world record… not even close.
Me and the boys

Not too often do I get of a picture of just me and the boys. Had a great time with both of them at the Verly reunion on the 4th of July.

Happy Mother’s Day
Posted by: | CommentsWishing Moms everywhere a very Happy Mother’s Day.
May your family cherish you as you so richly deserve.
May your spouse honor you on your special day.
May your children appreciate all the little things you do.
And hopefully, may all of these come true for you.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Oh the things kids do…
Posted by: | CommentsThere are parenting events that I know when I will look back on, I'll wish I would have handled it differently. Tonight was not one of them. Sam and one of his friends were playing outside and fell into one of the worst traps kids his age could get into… they got bored. So what do bored kids normally do? Yep, they find something they shouldn’t get into. Tonight was tearing apart a big, and I mean 4’ x 4’ big, piece of packing styrofoam. The results are below.
Scraps from the styrofoam slat.
Sam doing his best to clean his mess.
‘Snow effect’ from playing with styrofoam.
The funniest part of all of this? The frantic steps Holly took to get the ‘bigger’ mess cleaned up before she broke down and asked where the shop vac was at so they could vacuum up the bits and pieces.
