Happy Birthday Sam…
Posted by: | CommentsFive years ago I was battling my way back to Mankato through one of the worst storms I’ve ever driven in from a project site in South Dakota. The reason? To get back “just in case” Holly went into labor. After 6 hours of driving, I finally made it back to Mankato around 10:00pm. I said hi to Holly, got a bite to eat, and then crashed. Two hours later I was awoken by Holly saying her water broke. And in true first time Father-to-be fashion I asked, “Are you sure?”.
Later the next day, after a grueling 18 hours of labor and a quick C-section (yes, I make it sound like I did so much work that day), Samuel James Verly came into our lives. He is one of the three most precious people in my life today. Each day I’m thankful (or at least I try to be) for the miracle that arrived in our lives on March 18, 2005.
Here’s some highlights from the last five years:

Sam and his birthday cake…
Posted by: | CommentsSam and his Bakugan cake for his 5th birthday. His sub-theme for his birthday was ‘Death by Chocolate’. Holly made him a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, this was after having pizza and chocolate milk. Needless to say, Sam made it just fine this afternoon without a nap.

Smiling for the camera…

Now you get a mobile version of the blog that loads quicker and has a better mobile viewing experience. You can see the regular site by turning off the mobile view at the bottom of the page.

Posted by: | CommentsTime for a new show…
Posted by: | CommentsI think Sam needs to find a different show. We watched Scooby Doo before he went to bed tonight. Sam was commenting during the opening montage on whether or not he had seen a given episode. The funny part was he had more yes’s than no’s.
In hindsight, I could probably do that to most of my childhood shows too.
