Dad’s Helper…
ByI have a confession to make. For the first time as a parent I used my son to get something done for me because I didn't want to do it myself. You see that pretty tree all decorated with lights in the picture. Well the guy who built our house saw fit (or in my opinion, lack of vision) to only put two outlets on the outside of the house. So to plug in this tree would have required to either run the extension cord across the driveway or through the backyard.
Of course the driveway option wouldn't work because I would be guaranteed to hit, cut, or slice the extension cord within two minutes of trying to clear the first snowfall. So the obvious choice was to run the cord through the backyard to the other outlet. Well the other outlet is on the other side of the deck and so it made sense to run the extension cord under the deck. That's where Sam comes in.
Yes… I asked my son to help me pull the extension cord to where I wanted it by crawling under the deck. We both got flashlights and he crawled halfway across to get the wire puller so I could pull the cord completely under the deck. He thought it was so great that he got to help Dad put up the Christmas lights. I also want to add that he got handsomely rewarded for his effort (he got $5) and that his mother was there the entire time supervising our task.
So for reason of guilt by association, Holly had as much to do with this as I did.
