Perspective…
Posted by: | CommentsFor whatever reason, I thought about the last bike ride I had with Sam while I was waiting to drop off my lawn mower to get fixed. Sam was tired and needed help going up even the smallest hill. All I could think about was when are you going to be big enough to get up this hill by yourself.
As I was thinking about the ride, a pair of father/son cyclists went by and it looked like dad was playing catch up. Seeing this I realized I need to remember someday Sam won’t be so little. I should cherish the simple little rides now as much as I know I will enjoy the bigger rides we’ll have when he gets older.
Sometimes you need to be a removed from a situation to get a clearer view of what’s truly important. Life’s little reminders can come up at some of the strangest moments.
The Ice Cream Truck in the 21st century…
Posted by: | Comments You know summer is in full swing when the ice cream truck comes through the neighborhood. Sam got to experience his first time of running up to the ice cream truck last
week. Ok… he got to experience running up to the ice cream truck
right behind me. But as some things
don't change, the way our summer treats are delivered has. Meet the
21st century ice cream truck. The truck is an electric vehicle that uses a gas powered generator to keep the freezer cold. The treats tasted just as good as they always do on a summer night. Sam now expects it to drive by every night, just like I did. I guess somethings don't change.
(Side note: to keep things perfectly honest, Sam and I actually strolled around the front yard for a good 15 minutes trying to make sure the ice cream truck was going down our street.)
Camping in the backyard, Rev 2…
Posted by: | CommentsAnother night of camping in the backyard with Sam. Made a few corrections from our last adventure. Tonight is going much smoother compared to last time.
Hopefully this will include actually getting some sleep.
Coming home…
Posted by: | CommentsThe highlight from my latest trip to Idaho was the TSA agent who complimented me on my organizational skills getting ready to have my carry on bags Xrayed.
Yep, the trip went that bad.
A new generation…
Posted by: | CommentsWe've been working with Sam on winning and losing. We'll play games, race to get dressed or who can get buckled up in the car first. When racing to get buckled first over the weekend, Sam was frantically trying to beat Holly. Half way through trying to get his seat belt buckled he starts screaming, 'Mom… pause. Mom you have to pause!'
Welcome to the Tivo generation.
New pics on Flickr…
Posted by: | CommentsJust completed a big upload to Flickr (see here). Lots of pics that didn't make it on the blog. Enjoy!

Thomas the Train…
Posted by: | CommentsWe went to Lakeville today to go to meet Thomas the Train. Sam hasn’t been this excited for Thomas in a long time. Even Evan pointed to Thomas when he pulled in. I’ll post more pics of the kids and Thomas later tonight.
