A special day for me…

I had to go to Lake Norden this week and while I was out there Holly got Sam his first bike.  Yes, there was a little bit drama about Sam getting the bike while I wasn't here but we've gotten past that.  But the more important thing was Sam and I got to go on our first bike ride together today.  It was the slowest, most muddled ride I've ever been on… but it was also the one I've never had so much fun and joy either. 

Our ride was around the block, partially on the road and partially on the sidewalk.  I got to teach Sam that pedaling backwards stops the bike (hence, the really long time it took because Sam kept practicing stopping).  And show him how to stand up and pedal real hard when you come to a hill.  The biggest thrill Sam had on the ride… watching me bunny hop on my mountain bike while I waited for him to climb up a small hill. 

That 20 minute ride made my year.  Lebanon Hills here we come!
