Evan really likes his snacks…
Posted by: | CommentsNew experiences today…
Posted by: | CommentsWe had three new experiences from tonight’s trip to the park:
1. Sam learned that riding a bike for a long time makes your underwear crawl up your butt. Quote from Sam: ‘My underwear got sewed up my butt.’
2. Holly got her first death fright by one of her boys. Sam leapt from a one part of the jungle gym to another, right in front of Holly. She literally sat there for 2-3 minutes trying to catch her breath and to not cry.
3. That sometimes I actually am right. We’ll leave it at that.
New adventure with Sam…
Posted by: | CommentsTonight we’re trying something new in the GeekDaddy household… camping. Sam and I are going to sleep in the backyard tonight. We’ve got the whole setup: tent, sleeping bags, LED lantern, and s’mores.
Sam seems pretty excited, but I don’t think he’s got the whole, ‘we sleep outiside all night’ thing down yet. The over/under on when we’ll be back inside is midnight. I’ll let you know how things go.
Surprise Grandma…

I want to thank everyone that helped with pictures and updates for this small project. Please feel free to send me any updates or new pictures you want added.
New lesson as a parent…
Posted by: | CommentsToday I learned that someday a girl is going to absolutely break Sam’s heart and I’m probably going to feel worse than him over it.
A special day for me…
Posted by: | CommentsI had to go to Lake Norden this week and while I was out there Holly got Sam his first bike. Yes, there was a little bit drama about Sam getting the bike while I wasn't here but we've gotten past that. But the more important thing was Sam and I got to go on our first bike ride together today. It was the slowest, most muddled ride I've ever been on… but it was also the one I've never had so much fun and joy either.
Our ride was around the block, partially on the road and partially on the sidewalk. I got to teach Sam that pedaling backwards stops the bike (hence, the really long time it took because Sam kept practicing stopping). And show him how to stand up and pedal real hard when you come to a hill. The biggest thrill Sam had on the ride… watching me bunny hop on my mountain bike while I waited for him to climb up a small hill.
That 20 minute ride made my year. Lebanon Hills here we come!
Complicated life…
Posted by: | CommentsAs we left Mankato, we stopped at a light and I saw the minivan in front of us had two ‘My kid is on the honor roll at <insert school> for 2008-2009′ bumper stickers. The funny part was one school was in Mankato and the other was in the Twin Cities.
Now that’s one heck of a morning commute.
Right from wrong…
Posted by: | CommentsDeep down I know it would be wrong to crawl back into bed just because the kids are distracted with breakfast, even though the cool breeze still coming through my window felt so good when I fell asleep last night.
Really, I do.
Day 1 and done…
Posted by: | CommentsWell I can happily report we still have two happy, fed, and functional boys – 10 fingers & 10 toes. Today went a lot better than yesterday. We got to do one of my favorite activities – family nap time! The fact that Sam got a nap was the key to a good afternoon. We hung out for a little while, then went to the mall play area, came home had pizza, played outside, took baths, read books, and went to bed. Piece a cake.
Now I've cleaned up the kitchen, put the dishes in the dishwasher, and washed the towels. So hopefully the house will be in the same order of magnitude of cleanliness when Holly comes back on Sunday. Hopefully…
Wishes…
Posted by: | CommentsSam and I were watching a little TV before his afternoon nap. In the most sincerest voice I’ve heard, Sam said ‘Dad, I really wish I could be a superhero. Can I do that someday?’ Almost choked up from the question.
