Understanding priorities…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

It was another early Saturday morning, which of course makes me wonder why the boys think Thursday is a good day to sleep in (but that’s another post). As part of being Saturday are slightly relaxed TV viewing limits.

So Sam while finishing up his breakfast, he got to watch the Disney channel. This gave me a little time to change Evan and see if we could get him to cheer up – Evan woke up kind of grumpy. While I finished up with Evan, Sam came over and asked me to turn the TV on in the family room. I asked why I needed to turn on another TV. He said he didn’t want to watch TV in the kitchen anymore. I asked why. He said, ‘it’s Saturday and I need to watch Disney in a comfortable chair, and the kitchen chairs are not as comfortable as the big chair’.

So by age 3, my son has taken over where we eat, what we watch, and the music we listen too. But to take my recliner, well that’s just too much! I say this with such bravado as I look over from the couch at my son sitting in my chair watching Pooh.

Right idea, wrong application…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Sam continues to get up extra early on occasion.  We've now got him an alarm and have been telling he cannot get up until the alarm goes off.  This works about 4 out of 5 days.  A couple nights ago, Sam got up in the middle of the night.  He came into our room and tried to crawl into bed.  Holly asked him what he was doing.  Sam said, "My alarm clock broke, it hasn't gone off yet."  Holly giggled, started walking Sam back to his room and she said, "No, you just woke up a little too early."

The funny part of the story… a little too early was around 3am.  Yeah, just a little early.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss…

Drseuss
Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to kids around the world as Dr. Seuss, was born today in 1904.  I normally don't post announcements like this, but this wasn't an ordinary man.

A new focus…

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I know most of you have seen the lack of consistency of posts the last couple of weeks.  Well there has been a two reasons for the lack of updates.  One, things have been kind of quiet the last couple of weeks.  We're all sort of in a holding pattern until spring finally arrives, but I've posted a couple of videos at the request of grandparents.  Two, I've been working on a new blog site: FamilyTechGuy.net.

One of the things you may have seen getting updated frequently is the Twitter box on the right side of the blog page.  This has become my favorite way of making quick little updates on what's happening with me that may not be enough for a full post.  So while full posts may not come as often as I've done in the past, watch the side panel to catch new updates.  I'm working on a way to have those updates get posted in the regular blog so everyone can see the updates like before.

The other difference you will see is the drop in tech related news in this blog.  I've added my new site, FamilyTechGuy.net, as an output for my tech related news stream.  This site will have a focus for information for the guy or gal who has ended up as the tech guy for family and friends.  Stay tuned.
