One more joke…
Posted by: | CommentsThe tides are turning…
Posted by: | CommentsHolly and I always wondered if there would be a day when Evan would have the upper hand over Sam. Well it appears that day occurred around 3:38pm on March 29, 2009. Evan in the span 20 minutes has been able to throw something at Sam, accidentally hit Sam with his shoe, and steal some Goldfish crackers straight from Sam's bowl. Each of these actions resulted in a near melt down by Sam. Now in Sam's defense, he is getting over removal of his adenoids and tubes in both ears. But it will be fun (in a sadasitc sense) how things go over the summer when they are both playing outside. Stay tuned.
New geek candy…
Posted by: | CommentsI’ll pass this little food tip to those willing to give it a try. Apparently if you microwave M&M’s on high for 30 seconds, you get a whole new candy experience. The hard candy coating holds together a gooey chocolate center after you pull then out. The M&M’s should be heated on a plate or napkin, not in the bag.
I’m very tempted to run out to Kwik Trip and try this tonight. Hmmm…
Update on Sam…
Posted by: | CommentsI know this wasn't posted prominently on the blog, but Sam went in yesterday to get new tubes put in his ears and get his adenoids removed. Sam had a check-up last week for his ears and the doctor noted that one of his ears still had fluid in it, where the tube had fallen out earlier this year. The other ear we learned had the the tube just about falling out. Further discussion led to the decision to have his adenoids removed, because there was a strong to adenoids and fluid in the ear.
The quick turn around was due to conflict of schedules by the ENT doctor who performs these surgeries. It was either a week later (yesterday) or almost a month and half. We didn't want to put this off due to the chance of another ear infection and that causing a further delay. So Sam went in around 8am for his surgery and was home by 11am. He was pretty groggy most of the afternoon, but perked up after dinner. I spent the morning home with the boys because Sam wasn't supposed to go to school or daycare the day after surgery. Hopefully this will put an end to Sam's ear problems.
Getting bigger…
Posted by: | CommentsAs an end to Sam's birthday, and because we couldn't wash any more dishes due to our countertop install, we took everyone out for dinner last night. As usual, Holly had an assortment of places we could choose from because of the coupons she had available. We decided on Baker's Square because we hadn't been there in a while. As we sat and waited for our dinner, Sam asked a very innocent question to Holly, 'Mommy, will I ever be 3 years old again?' I don't think anyone could physically hit Holly hard enough to make the expression I saw on her face again. She tried to smile and said, 'No Sam, you'll never be 3 years old again.' She did her best to keep the tears back, but they managed to sneak through anyway.
Sam then added, 'You know Mommy, I'll just need to change some more when I'm 4 years old and then when I'm 5 years old.' My mistake, I guess there was something that could make Holly make that expression again. At this point Sam realized Holly was crying and was honestly concerned on why she was sad. Holly couldn't do much but say she really wasn't sad. Sam decided that Holly needed some comforting so he hopped out from my side of the booth and went over to Holly and said, 'It's okay Mommy, maybe we just need to sit and cuddle a little bit to make it better.'
And in all honesty, I even had a small tear after the exchange between Sam and Holly.
Visit to the Children’s Museum
Posted by: | CommentsHolly and I had intended to take Sam to the Children's Museum yesterday as a special day for just him. As we started to pull out, Sam announced (note, not asked or questioned) that he wanted Evan to come with. Holly and I asked him if he was sure and Sam said he wanted his little brother with too. So the whole family ended up going today. Here's some pictures from the day.
The good jokes keep on coming…

We got a Wii…
Posted by: | CommentsWell it finally happened, I finally got a Wii. I've been on the edge of getting one and finally decided to do it when I saw a geeky exercise program for the Wii using an add-on module called the Wii Fit. Now when I walked into Best Buy to get the Wii, I heard a very loud voice in my head saying I should get a Playststion3. But no, calmer heads prevailed and I opted for the purchase I originally came in for.
So now all I need to do is track down a Wii Fit module (Best Buy was sold out) to get started with my new exercise routine. I'll update everyone how things are going once I get a good start with my new exercise program.
Besides, I was able to get Holly to actually agree that the Wii was for the whole family… albeit in a round about way.
