Always a little thinker, err stinker…

By Jason Verly

While I'm out visiting the great state of Idaho, Holly has had the chance to drop the boys off to daycare in the morning.  Sam is usually quite chatty after we get into the car.  He and I usually talk about all sorts of stuff, until we get to two sets of stop lights on our way to daycare.  Then it always seems to revolve around the intricate rules of when someone can or cannot go through the intersection.  So when Holly came to the stoplights, Sam started to comment on Holly's driving by saying she couldn't go through the red light.  Holly tried to explain that she could take a right at the red light, but she couldn't go through the red light.

Now I need to back this up a little further by adding that we've told Sam that we can't do certain things in the car, otherwise the police will get us.  This stems from an incident I had with an overzealous off duty police office calling the house and stating I was driving erratically, which I wasn't, but that's another story.  So now we say we can't drive too fast, go through red lights, etc, because the police will get us and take us to jail – just like Lightning McQueen in Cars.

Sam asked if the police would get her if she went through the red light.  She said she might get in trouble if she went through the red light.  Sam thought about that for a few seconds and said, 'If you get in trouble and go to jail, can I have your iPhone?'.
