I’m mildly disappointed…
Posted by: | Comments…that I’m in the middle of a very small town (Wesley) in Iowa and get 5 bars, while in my own home in Mankato I typically 1 bar. Go figure.
How I spent my Thanksgiving…

A truly sad state of our society…
Posted by: | CommentsMany news organizations (MSNBC, CNN) are reporting about the death of a Wal-Mart employee who was trampled to death when he opened the doors to waiting customers on Black Friday. In the rush to get to the 'best bargains', customers broke a door off its hinges and crushed the employee. As throngs of people came in, they walked over the broken door and trampled the 34 year old employee. The sickest part is when the store started to close down due to the accident, people actually kept on shopping saying that they waited too long to leave. Authorities hope to press charges, but have said it will be difficult.
If this is really what the holidays have become, then we are truly down a lost road as a civilized society. Our prayers go out to the family of the employee.
Unbelievable – Part 3…
Posted by: | CommentsWell I guess things balance out in the end. Sam and Evan gave their Dad a very Happy Thanksgiving day present (yes I'm mixing holidays, but it just works). Sam slept in until 6:30am and played quietly by himself. Since Sam slept in and was quiet, Evan slept in too (almost 7:30am). That means Dad got to sleep in until 7:30am. Yeah! On top of that, it's about 11am and both of them have been down for naps for over an hour.
With the news in the world not always so positive, it's nice to be able to sit back to look around and appreciate the things that really matter. So as we wrap up making dinner, and with the house so quiet, I wanted to again say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Posted by: | CommentsI hope everyone is having a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day.
Unbelievable – Part 2…
Posted by: | CommentsIt's another day and another morning where we are ALL dressed and ready to go by 6:15am. Sam has a bad habit of staying up if he has to go to the bathroom anytime after 5:00am. Well today potty time was 5:03am. I know this because he came in to tell me all he was doing was going potty. After opening and closing his door 3 times in 5 minutes, that was enough to wake up his little brother around 5:20am. Holly had to come down and finally get me out of bed because Pepper had an accident 2' from her desk just around 5:30am. So now we're all waiting for Mommy to get down working because in Sam's words, 'Daddy, you're not a very happy person right now.'
Have a Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
Random thought of the day…

Unbelievable…
Posted by: | CommentsAs I sit here putting this post together, I'm reminded of how lucky I am to have two such wonderful boys. I'm also reminded that I was cursed my their grandmother and that getting up at 5:30am in the &@#%^ morning was part of the package.
Thanks Mom!
Trying to work things out…
Posted by: | CommentsAs most of you know Sam loves his super heroes. Well last week we went to the video store and got a few movies. As we were heading to the check out, Sam saw a Lego Batman video game and asked if he could get it. The rating was 'E', and it looked harmless, so I picked it up. Sam was ecstatic about being able to rent his first video game.
As we drove home, Sam and I worked out what conditions it would take for him to be able to play his video game. The terms were simple – finish your meal and you can play your video game. That day we got to put the terms against two meals – lunch and dinner. At the end of the day, Sam did not get to play his game yet because he hadn't finish either meal. Day two comes and goes and still no video game for Sam.
Now on the third day, I have to go out of town for two days for some work in South Dakota. Sam is a little distressed because we've told him that only he and I can play the video game. Holly has made it abundantly clear to Sam that this is beyond something she can do and only Daddy can help him play his game. So Sam is a little more eager for me to come home.
On the second day I'm out of town, Sam asks Holly about the video game and if she could figure it out. Holly says no, it's too complicated for her, only Daddy would be able to figure it out, Daddy needs to setup the game console, and a few other reasons. Sam looked at her for a few seconds and finally says, 'Mommy, we should sit down and talk about it so it's not complicated.'
