Spider Evan!
Posted by: | Comments
This was the best pic we could get of Evan today. Sam was so excited to be going to the mall to go trick or treating, he was literally bouncing off the walls (and us) while we tried to take the picture of Evan.
Happy Halloween!
Posted by: | CommentsHappy Birthday Evan!
Posted by: | CommentsIt's unbelievable, but 1 year has passed since Evan came into our lives. WOW! As the year has gone by, Evan's personality is really starting to show – as seen in the attached picture. He can go from that frowning face, to a giant smile with a giggle, and back in a blink. Thanks again for everyone who came down last Saturday to celebrate with us.
What a $1000 gets you today…
Posted by: | CommentsJust to put a little perspective in what/where you can put your retirement savings with the volatile markets were in right now. If you had put a $1000 in the following companies 1 year ago, here is what you have today:
Fannie Mae: $20.82
Freddie Mac: $21.23
AIG: $90.18
If you took that same $1000 and used all the money to buy beer you would have about $215 worth of cans to recycle. More proof that red necks will survive just about any crisis.
Another flickr update…

Thanks again to everyone who came down for Evan's birthday. I posted most of the good pictures we got from the on Flickr – MyGeekDaddy Flickr. Holly and I plan to get prints of pictures over the last year done between now and Christmas. If you have a specific request from all the pics you've seen, drop us a note and we'll add it to the list.
It was a success…
Posted by: | CommentsSam had his tube surgery this morning and it's been a huge change – again! Sam went in around 8:15am and we finally got to see him in recovery about a 1/2 hour later. He was a little groggy, but happy to see us. His first complete sentence after we saw him was, 'Mommy guess what, I hear more better now!' Just like the first time he got tubes, his attention to directions is better and he doesn't look at us as if Holly and I are practicing pig Latin all the time.
Big day tomorrow…
Posted by: | CommentsIt's a big day in our house tomorrow. Tomorrow we get our old Sam back… the one that can hear! Sam is going in to get tubes put back into his ears for the 2nd time (and not a moment too soon for me). Over the past several weeks, Sam's hearing has been getting worse due to a gradual build up of fluid in his ears. He's now got to the point he's saying, 'What?', like an old man. If the transformation in his hearing is anything like the first time he got tubes, Holly and I will be very happy. We're getting a little tired of having the volume on the TV and the radio set to 8.5, when a normal person is happy with 4.
Checking the blog…
Posted by: | CommentsMy editor (Holly) is not always up to speed with my blog posts. So tonight you should see a few corrections made to my previous late night ramblings, courtesy of her always welcomed suggestions and input. Thanks again honey for pointing out my mistakes.

Comedy of errors…
Posted by: | CommentsI have to honestly say it was a beautiful day outside today. Today was one of those fall days you appreciate as winter gets closer and closer. And the reason I know it was such a lovely day is that I stopped watching my beloved Vikings early in the 3rd quarter. After flubbing a return that resulted in a touchdown and then 30 seconds later an interception by Chicago was just too much.
So instead of rolling over on the couch and falling asleep (which I almost did), Sam and I went outside to play. And from the highlights and game summaries I've heard so far, I should have gone outside at the half and enjoyed that afternoon that much sooner.
Next week is a Bye week, so I'm guessing they can't screw that up. Can they?
Making it easier on Dad…
Posted by: | CommentsSometimes there are nights where Sam is simply a Mama's boy… period. Well tonight was one of those nights. The way bedtime works for Sam is if Holly is going to read him night time stories (like tonight), then I help Sam get ready for bed (e.g. get into PJ's, brush teeth, last bathroom trip, etc). Well tonight Sam was especially tired and wanted Holly to do both. Holly and I both said that I would brush his teeth and Holly would read. He didn't like that and started to cry. He cried as I put him on the stool to brush his teeth, while I brushed his teeth, and when he went to the bathroom one last time.
And in all of this all I could think was how much easier it was to brush Sam's teeth when he was crying. I mean he's just standing still with his mouth wide open. It doesn't get much easier than that… right??? If makes anyone else feel better, Holly really did see my logic in the whole situation either.
