Whatis_cloud20080609 Apple recently concluded their WWDC conference where they announced the soon to be released 3G iPhone. Part of the announcement for the new iPhone included the unveiling of a new mobile service from Apple. In their own words, ‘It’s Exchange for the rest of us.’ The allusion is to Microsoft’s Exchange Server which is used by most businesses for email, calendar, and contact collaboration. Exchange Server can push updates from one device out to other devices – i.e. a contact update on a PDA will also be seen on your laptop. The beauty of the service Apple announced is that it will work on both Mac and PC’s, as well as iPhones and the iPod Touch. While the service cost $99/yr, the service also includes 10GB of online storage, a web gallery for pictures, and web portal to access your data (calendar, contacts, mail) from any computer with an internet connection.
